Public Recycling Drop-off Center

The public recycling drop-ff center is open 7 days a week during daylight hours.

The York County Solid Waste Authority’s Public Recycling Drop-off Center is located across from the Resource Recovery Center at 2651 Blackbridge Road, Manchester Township, York, PA.  Click here for directions.  For a list of recycling drop-off centers by municipality, click here.

The following recyclables are accepted at the drop-off center:

Aluminum and Steel Cans:

Food/beverage ONLY.  Please, NO paint, aerosol, or chemical cans (put in regular garbage).  NO propane tanks.  Click on propane tanks for a list of outlets that accept used tanks for recycling.  

 

Glass--Food and Beverage Containers:

Bottles and jars ONLY.  Any color accepted.  NO ceramics, window or auto glass, light bulbs or drinking glasses, mirrors, porcelain, glass cookware or bakeware.  Rinse containers and remove and dispose of caps and lids.

 

Plastic bottles/containers/jugs:

These include food, beverage or detergent bottles ONLY with the numbers 1 through 7 printed on the container.   Please, NO shopping bags, oil/chemical containers, toys, plastic wrap, utensils or styrofoam, microwave trays or unnumbered plastics.  Rinse containers and remove and dispose of caps and lids.

 

Newsprint & Other Paper:

Color inserts, magazines, catalogues, junk mail, cereal boxes, phone books printer paper, copier paper, and junk mail.  DO NOT drop off paper in bags or bundled with string. 

 

Cardboard:

All boxes MUST be broken down.  Corrugated cardboard and paperboard now accepted.  Corrugated cardboard is cardboard that has ridges separating the front and back panels.  This includes most cardboard boxes.  Paperboard is usually a low grade cardboard in a single layer.  It includes such items as cereal boxes, shoe boxes or soda boxes. 

 

Clothing and Shoes: 

Clean clothing and shoes are accepted in the Salvation Army drop-off bin.  The Salvation Army will pull the bin when full and distribute the items collected. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: If you have furniture, appliances or other large items for the Salvation Army, you must contact the Salvation Army directly at 1-800-95-TRUCK.

 

Thank you for Recycling!  At this drop-off site, more than 1,000 tons of material is collected for recycling annually.
