TOUR SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED FOR 2010

The York County Solid Waste Authority has chosen the recipients of the 2010 Tour Scholarship Program.  Nine schools and nearly 800 students will participate in 2010.

The Tour Scholarship Program is offered by the Authority to local schools and pays the cost of a bus and a driver needed for classes to take a field trip to the York County Resource Recovery Center and Education Center.  In return, scholarship participants complete an activity or project on an aspect of solid waste management such as recycling or litter prevention.

The Tour Scholarship awardees for 2010 are:  Dover Elementary-Tina Linburg, Grade 2;  Kralltown Elementary-Deb Wirth, Grade 2; LJ Macaluso Elementary- Jeremy Kaufman, Grade 5; Leib Elementary-Teresa Dull, Grade 4; Paradise Elementary-Kathy Gross, Grade 3; Roundtown Elementary-Regina Peckman, Grade 2; Shrewsbury Elementary-Lisa Kline, Grade 4; Southern Elementary-Sue Thomas, Grade 4 and Weigelstown Elementary-Kathryn Hensel, Grade 4.

This is the fifteenth year the scholarship has been offered to York County Schools.  More than 11,000 students have benefited from this program.
