RECYCLING CONNECTS OLD PHONE BOOKS

The York County Solid Waste Authority’s 16^th annual Phone Book Recycling Program netted 74.5 tons of phone books, an increase of more than 5 tons over last year’s program.  Thanks to this recycling effort, the books have found a new calling as paper products such as envelope insulation, paper towels and scrap paper tablets. 

This program enabled York County residents and businesses to recycle their old phone books at collection sites across the county.  Collection sites included the Authority's Public Recycling Drop-Off Center , Queensgate Shopping Center , the West Manchester Mall, Saubel’s Market in Shrewsbury and the Meadowbrook Village Shopping Center .  The Authority thanks these participating businesses for the use of their parking lots as collection sites.
